As you may know, my husband works a lot and his work never seems to occur on the West Coast. But what you may not know is that I have one of my very best friends living with us to keep me company and help with our kids! It is truly the best and she is my village. Last week when my parents came to visit they decided it would be a great time for us girls to take a little break for some self-care and have a girls getaway. With all the rain in LA we decided to road trip into the desert and check into Palm Springs.
I have been dying to get to Salvation Mountain and Courtney was the perfect friend to take the 4 hour drive deep into the desert to take Instagram pictures with this crazy cool art installation!
Salvation Mountain is located in the lower desert of Southern California in Imperial County just east of the Salton Sea and about a hour and a half from Palm Springs. The 50 foot height and 150 foot breadth is made totally of local adobe clay and donated paint and is truly unique. From its Sea of Galilee at the bottom, to the big red heart in the middle, the reoccurring theme of “Love” is everywhere at Salvation Mountain. To get to Salvation Mountain just plug this address into your GPS (about the time you feel like you are lost in the desert, you are probably almost there )

After exploring the mountain we hopped back in the car and headed to Palm Springs. We were staying at the fabulously happy Saguaro Hotel. We landed in the Taco Bar El Jefe and spent our evening chatting over tequila and tacos. The next morning we enjoyed the morning yoga at the hotel and worked in the breakfast restaurant. We explored all the shopping that Palm Springs had to offer in the afternoon. That evening we loved our colorful room so much that we decided to stay in and enjoy the movies and a pitcher of margaritas in the room while trying out some of our favorite face masks! It was truly a perfect girls getaway.
