Go Vote !
I picked Mia up from school the other day and it was very obvious that they were discussing the election at school. Her first question as she jumped in the car was “Mom, who are you voting for?” She followed it up by telling me that I should definitely vote for Hillary because she is a girl, and if she wins then it will show her that she can be anything.
I stopped the car right there. I didn’t want my daughter to think that someone else had to pave the way for her to be “anything”. I wanted her to dream big and to never feel that someone else has to do something first to show her that she can have big dreams. I love the Barbie ads that encourage girls to be anything. I want her to know she can be anything no matter what with hard work. I ordered her the Presidential Barbie dolls so in the meantime, she can imagine, play and dream as big as she wants!
We talked about democrats, and republicans and we even asked Google what each represented exactly. It all mattered so much to her. She loved talking about all the issues and what they meant to each candidate. She asked important questions that I would have never thought about discussing with a 5 year old. She looked right at me and said “Mommy, please go vote, this is important stuff.”
So even if you don’t love either of the candidates and wish that you could have “Pizza for President” this election, remember what you believe in matters and to go out there and vote for your children and for their futures and for what you wish for them!
